APRIL 2018

Thanksgiving
By:Tyler Washington

Summer summer whatta stunner,

you’re a season like no other,

Filled with laughter and some lovers,

Some are writers, some are drummers,

So, summer summer please come sooner,

I’m failing my exams, feeling like a loser,

And you’re the best thing in my near future,

Even though when u end i’ll be a junior.

Summer summer you’re so different,

Your sun, your moon much more apparent,

You keep me sane and make my parents

Grateful for my lack of absence

Cuz, summer summer when this term is over,

I’ll finally go home and see my dog, Rover,

I’ll sit and sleep and roll my shoulders,

Free from this backpack I nicknamed “Boulder.”

Summer summer here’s a love letter,

Because sometimes i think you deserve a bit better,

From me, from them, and from anyone ever,

Since you always carry hidden treasures

And summer summer, you’re a comforting presence,

Sometimes lazy, other times pleasant,

You help me escape my school-sized penance,

And make me feel like I’ve earned a present.

So please hurry up and come and save me

But until then, I shall just be waiting...
